Discover History Month: October 2017

The Camden Public Library will host a series of speakers during “Discover History Month” at the library during October.

Events include: 

Tuesday, October 3, 7:00 pm – Kerry Hardy on Maine’s Red Paint People.

Tuesday, October 10, 7:00 pm – Textile Historian Jacqueline Field on solving the dye shortage during World War I.

Thursday, October 12, 7:00 pm – Historic Photos of Camden with photographs from the Walsh History Center Archives. Bring any photos you have of Camden in days passed, and we’ll all share our memories.

Sunday, October 15, 2:00 pm – Historical Interpreter Jude Lamb, in character as her fourth-great grandmother, one of the first white settlers in Maine. All ages.

Tuesday, October 17, 7:00 pm – Camden Conference Community Event, Michael G. Roskin, “Is This The Greatest Political Crisis Since the Civil War?”

Tuesday, October 24, 7:00 pm – Chris Glass, on The Golden Age of Camden’s Cottages. 

 

Harbors Arts & Books Fairs 2017

The dates for the Fall Harbor Arts & Books Fairs will be September 30 & October 1. The fair features items for every taste and prices for every pocketbook! Art patrons will find works in oil, watercolor, acrylics, as well as photography, sculpture, and mixed media. Fans of handcrafted wares can shop for pottery, glass, woodcrafts, jewelry, fiber art and furniture. The library will also host its giant Outdoor Book Sales under the tents, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday of the Fair weekend.

Come use our LulzBot Mini 3D printer! First came the print revolution. Now we are in the 3D print revolution. The possibilities are endless.

If you can design it, a 3D printer can print it. From body organs to jet fighter parts to a kindergarten project, 3D printing is used today in a wide variety of ways with unlimited possibilities. As the cost of 3D printing goes down, each person has an opportunity to experiment with personally manufacturing a single item.
